Sri Lanka Plantation Walk

Sri Lanka Plantation Walk

Sum up

Explore the vast, tranquil estate of your host, a highly-engaging journalist who has many stories to tell about his ancestral home, built in the mid-19th century by his grandfather. Walk through 45 acres of tropical gardens and admire the striking views of the Knuckles Mountain Range – the gateway to Sri Lanka’s lush tea country. After spending 30 years in Canada, your host returned to live at this secluded retreat and is now highly knowledgeable about everything which lives in his garden, from the crops to the wildlife!

This walk starts at 9:00am and will last for approximately 4-5 hours, depending on the length of the walk and how fast you eat your lunch! Listen to stories of the plantation, past and present, whilst wandering through the lines of cinnamon, vanilla, pepper, rubber and spice plots and look out for toque macaques, porcupines, wild boat and barking deer moving through the trees. Finish the experience with a delicious home-cooked traditional lunch at the planter’s home, cooked over an open wood fire.

Duration: 2 hours

Best Time: Year-round
